An article published by Mental Health Today about a survey undertaken by the national union of students:

Paul Farmer, chief executive of Mind, added: “This new research demonstrates the scale of mental health problems among students. We are particularly concerned that more than 1 in 10 students surveyed had experienced suicidal thoughts during the time they’ve spent at their current place of study. Despite the high prevalence of mental health problems and stress among students, many people are not seeking help, perhaps because of the stigma that can surround mental health problems.

Southwark Hardship Fund is a new discretionary scheme that has been set up by the council. The scheme is aimed at Southwark’s most vulnerable residents, particularly those who have been affected by one or more of the welfare reform changes.
The hardship fund is being administered by Southwark’s Rightfully Yours Team, part of the Revenues, Benefits and FTSS team. Since March, referrals into the scheme have been received via customer services and these customers are now being contacted to determine their entitlement.
